Hollande: Boko Haram remains a serious threat

Boko Haram terrorist group remains a serious threat. So said French President Francois Hollande on the eve of the summit held in Nigeria's capital, Abuja.
After meeting his Nigerian counterpart, Muhammadu Buhari, Hollande stressed that, despite the lead risk remains "surprising" by government forces against the militant group. Leaders of many countries gathered in Nigeria to discuss how to join forces against Islamist faction, 7-year-old rebellion which has claimed the lives of about 20 thousand people and the displacement of 2 million others. Boko Haram members have hit civilian targets in a time when the Nigerian military is trying to catch up on the lost territory. Also, the group has links with the Islamic State. President Buhari among others is hosting the summit counterparts from countries like Cameroon, Chad, Nigeria and other African countries, as well as British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond and US Undersecretary of State, Antony Blinken. Blinken, which is already present in Nigeria, has expressed concern that the data show that the militants are going in Libya, where the influence of ISIS has increased significantly in recent months. Boko Haram communication skills have improved. They seem to have benefited from the assistance of ISIS, Blinken said.
